Fairy with thistles
I wanted to keep the colors of this particular painting relatively delicate and simple. Something that can be achieved with oil painting better than other paints out there that you can use. I wanted to make sure that there was a real sense of darkness to the background, with the harsh details of the thistles a key feature. The fairy herself, finished in a paler shade to give contrast, comes with a sense of ethereal charm, she holds a butterfly in her hands, embracing the delicate nature of its wings, compared to the harsh background that surrounds her.
